Family of Arsal hostage threatens large-scale movements against politicians
Khodor Zabyan, the brother of kidnapped soldier Saif Zabyan, has held Lebanon’s government and politicians responsible for the “blood” of his brother if they do not act to resolve the Arsal captives dossier.

Khodor gave on Saturday the government a 48-hour deadline to settle this case and submit solutions “or else large-scale movements will affect politicians at several levels”.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal in August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.

Also on Saturday, National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt said Health Minister Wael Abou Faour will hold further contacts, upon his own authorization, with the Nusra Front and the Islamic State groups.

“We are concerned with the lives of the kidnapped troops,” Jumblatt said via Twitter, hoping the remaining members of the ministerial crisis cell would realize the importance of the captives’ lives.
