Fadel Shaker’s attorney to AFP: Shaker will turn himself in to the Lebanese authorities

Fugitive singer Fadel Shaker is set to turn himself in to the Lebanese security apparatuses during the upcoming days, after having completely ended his relations with fugitive hardline cleric Ahmad al-Assir, Shaker’s attorney May Khansa said on Monday.

Khansa, who is defending Fadel Shaker before the military judiciary, told Agence France Presse (AFP) that the former singer is determined to hand himself over to the authorities, stressing that he has cut all ties with Assir.

“He also abandoned religious extremism,” she added.

In a recent interview with LBCI, the first of its kind since the deadly Abra clashes that erupted between the military and militant groups affiliated with Sheikh Ahmad Assir back in 2013, Fadel Shaker denied involvement in the Abra battle, stressing that he did not open fire at the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Shaker also said he has no information about Ahmad Assir's whereabouts.
