Relatives of abducted troops say FPM rally to be held responsible if hostages are harmed

Nizam Moughait, the brother of kidnapped soldier Ibrahim Moughait said on Thursday that Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun will be held responsible for any harm inflicted upon the hostages after Islamic State flags were teared during Wednesday's protest.

Aoun had called on his supporters to take to the streets to protest what he said was the government's marginalization of the Christian community's rights and the term extension of top security officials, namely Army Chief general Jean Kahwaji.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal last August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
