Minister Chehayeb says waste management must be at the expense of government not municipalities

Agriculture Minister Akram Chehayeb declared Wednesday that exporting the waste is the worst option, stressing the need that the upcoming transitional period in this regard does not exceed 18 months.

He said that the concept of partnership has collapsed, pointing out that resolving the waste crisis must be done at the expense of the government, not the municipalities.

During the inauguration of the conference on the role of “Municipalities in the sustainable management of solid waste,” several plans proposed for the waste crisis have been obstructed, stating that several parties launched promises and failed to keep them.

In the same context, he hoped that the positive atmosphere looming over the dialogue sessions will lead to a solution for the issue of garbage.
