95% of Lebanese exports halted until further notice

The tension that prevailed over the Nassib border crossing on the Syrian-Jordanian border adversely affected the exportation of Lebanese agricultural products, as hundreds of trucks stopped at the Syrian-Lebanese border in Jdeidet Yabouss and the Masnaa border crossing. These trucks carry around 7000 tons of vegetables, eggs and fruits including peaches, oranges and bananas.

The current situation in Syria and at the crossings halted the daily exportations knowing that 70 trucks with a load of 30 tons each used to cross the Lebanese borders daily, heading to Arab markets. This means that 95% of Lebanon’s exports are now halted until further notice.

However, the inflow from Syria to Beirut is high as displaced Syrians continue to cross to Lebanon every day, though with a slower pace compared to the past few days that saw thousands of displaced Syrians crossing into Lebanon.
