Abboud warns of legal action against beach resorts’ prejudice

Racist acts have become frequent in Lebanon, particularly during summer, given the discriminative entry rules imposed by the majority of beach resorts.

In this context, Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud confirmed that such racist acts affect the country’s tourism, stressing that Lebanon was and will remain a "role model when it comes to the respect of human rights".

During a joint press conference with members of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights, Abboud called on all Lebanese citizens to report any racist acts to the ministry of tourism by calling the hotline number: 1735.

Abboud warned that the ministry will take strict measures against those carrying out racist acts, adding that “despite the significant number of penalties administered to several resorts, no verdict has yet been issued in those regards”.
