REPORT: The plight of Lebanese students in Syria sees no end

In protest of their ongoing plight, Lebanese students who were completing their studies in Syria raised their voice once again, staging a sit-in on Monday before the Lebanese University at Choueifat.

These Lebanese citizens, whose difficult living conditions prompted them to go to Syria to complete their higher education, had to return to Beirut due to the turmoil sweeping through Syria.

After months of feeling "unwelcome" in their own country, they were given a glimpse of hope when the government issued a decree calling on the Lebanese University to admit them.

However, they were faced with prohibitive conditions "as through there were an attempt to disregard the case of over 1,000 students who now have nowhere to go."

These students who were at the dawn of graduation now have their future at stake, with no end in sight.

All they are asking for is a chance to complete their studies in Lebanon and not to be considered as second class citizens.
