Salameh advises cabinet to be careful, SCC calls for strike

The Lebanese cabinet convened on Wednesday at the Baabda Palace with discussions pertaining to financing the ranks and salaries pay scale high on the agenda.

Both Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi and Central Bank Governor Riyad Salameh gave their opinion on this issue during the session. They explained the influence of suggested taxes on financing the scale and on the economy.

Salameh explained that the endorsement of the scale could cause an inflation and advised the cabinet to take its time and to carefully study the file.

Accordingly, the cabinet decided to postpone the discussions concerning the financing of the scale for two weeks and the Syndicate Coordination Committee called for a strike tomorrow Thursday.

The cabinet had already discussed during the last two sessions the suggested tax procedure.
