Iran Foreign Minister says Tehran welcomes restoration of relations with Saudi Arabia

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said on Thursday after meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib, that discussions tackled various local, regional and international political developments.

He welcomed the return of normal relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, wishing the Saudis to move in the direction “that serves the interest of this region.”

He also revealed that Iran had received conflicting messages from Saudi Arabia regarding the revival of bilateral relations.

"The Islamic Republic will welcome the restoration of relations with Saudi Arabia, but so far has received mixed messages from the Kingdom," he noted.

Regarding the Vienna negotiations, he expressed Iran’s readiness “to achieve a strong, good and sustainable agreement, but not at the cost of breaking Iran's red lines."

He also condemned the war, whether it was in Ukraine, Yemen, Afghanistan or anywhere else.
