Al-Chami office: Meetings with IMF primarily focused on "Capitol Control" law
The office of Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh al-Chami said on Saturday that meetings with the International Monetary Fund continued this week and were primarily focused on the "Capitol Control" law, for which the Fund's opinion and observations were sought at the request of the Parliament.
 
The initiative was also forwarded to the joint committees of Parliament for debate on Monday, according to the office, and is on the agenda for the Parliament's session next Tuesday.
 
The statement added that Deputy Prime Minister al-Chami this week called for consultative meetings to examine the outlines of the economic and financial recovery plan, which will serve as the framework for negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
 
“To this end, three meetings were held with representatives of depositors, the trade union, and the unions of liberal professions, with a group of economists and experts in financial affairs, and with representatives of economic bodies and the Association of Banks in Lebanon,” the statement added.
 
The office stressed that these meetings were very useful and the observations and suggestions made in these meetings will be taken into consideration for discussion with the International Monetary Fund mission that will begin its work in Beirut next week.
