House Speaker Nabih Berri welcomed on Monday at his Ain al-Tineh residence Minister of Health Dr. Firas al-Abiad, and they tackled the general developments, especially the country’s health and medical situation.
Following the meeting, Abiad said that he briefed Berri on “the great wave of support for Lebanon, especially from its Arab brothers and international friends.”
“I’ve also shared with Speaker Berri the outcome of my recent visit to the State of Qatar, especially to discuss the possibility of securing fuel oil for private hospitals,” Abiad said.
“There are a number of projects that we’ve been working on with the World Health Organization, as well as cooperation projects with a number of brotherly Arab countries to establish a project in support of the health sector in Lebanon,” he added.
Abiad went on to say that talks with Berri also touched on Lebanon’s health situation in general, especially the issue of medicines and the pharmaceutical industry in general.
With regard to the Coronavirus pandemic, Abiad confirmed that Lebanon was witnessing a sharp decrease in the number of cases, hoping that this will pave the way to ease some measures, but he emphasized the necessity of ongoing vaccinations.
Separately, Berri had an audience with French Ambassador to Lebanon Anne Grillo, with whom he reviewed the general situation and the Lebanese-French relations.
Berri later on met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib, and they discussed political developments and the country’s general situation.
