Independent Christian officials: Stances of some leaders are not in line with constitution

The Democratic Renewal Movement Secretary Antoine Haddad said Tuesday that the main dilemma is not the unavailability of alternatives to the current electoral law which would be in line with the national accord, but the political stances of some leaders who do not take into account the Lebanese constitution.

Haddad, who read the statement of the independent Christian figures following their meeting at the residence of MP Boutros Harb, said that discussions over common ideas to find an alternative have not yet started.

Haddad stressed the necessity to find an electoral law which would “face the concerns of all parties alike.”
