REPORT: US delegation discusses with Lebanese officials the gas and oil investment

       
The US Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for the Bureau of Near East Affairs Lawrence Silverman and the US Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Energy Diplomacy Amos Hochstein arrived on Monday in Beirut to meet with various Lebanese officials.          

Following his meeting with President Michel Sleiman, Silverman stressed that his country is adamant on supporting Lebanon, especially the Lebanese Army, noting that the US will urge the countries to abide by their stances voiced in Kuwait's summit in terms of providing assistance to the countries that shelter the displaced Syrians.          

On another note, Speaker Nabih Berri briefed the US official, Amos Hochstein and the US Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly on the Lebanese investment in regards to oil and gas as well as the Exclusive Economic Zone.       

In addition, the meeting brought up the mechanisms that were undertaken by the Lebanese Army for the demarcation of the Lebanese borders and the Exclusive Economic Zone as per the international conventions and standards.
