Hajj Khalil reiterates from Rabieh Hezbollah’s rejection of the 1960’s law

Head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun launched on Wednesday a series of meetings to tackle the latest developments following the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

In this framework, MP Aoun met with a delegation from the Tashnag party which included the party's Secretary General Hovig Mekhtarian and MP Hagop Pakradounian.

MP Aoun also met with Hezbollah Secretary General's Political Assistant Hajj Hussein Khalil and the Hezbollah official Hajj Wafik Safa in the presence of caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil.

In this context, Minister Bassil told LBCI that the meeting was held to coordinate stances with Hezbollah.

Following the meeting, Hezbollah’s Hajj Hussein Khalil said that he cannot reveal all the discussed details and mentioned that they set some “red lines” that should not be crossed.

In regards to the elections, Khalil reiterated the party’s rejection to the 1960’s law and its support for the Orthodox Gathering’s electoral draft hoping that Speaker Nabih Berri would set it as the first item on the agenda of the upcoming parliamentary session.

“The date of the coming parliamentary session and items on its agenda are yet to be set by Speaker Berri who is holding talks with various political factions,” Khalil concluded.
