Lebanese PM pledges political reform, banking overhaul

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said he is committed to advancing political reforms that were never implemented under the Taif Agreement, particularly expanded administrative decentralization.

Speaking during a meeting, Salam said the government will work to pass these legislative proposals, following its approval of draft laws on judicial independence, lifting banking secrecy, and reforming the banking sector, in addition to efforts to adopt a financial gap law.
