Religious Druze Council calls for dissociating Lebanon from the Syrian crisis

The Religious Druze Council expressed on Tuesday its relief regarding the nomination of Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam, wishing him luck in forming a cabinet agreed upon by all political parties, so as to prove successful in holding the upcoming parliamentary elections and controlling the security situation at hand.

Following a meeting with the Supreme Aql of the Druze community, Sheikh Naim Hassan, the Council expressed its awe at the suspension of all electoral deadlines related to the 1960's electoral law by parliament, in the absence of a 'prominent parliamentary bloc';the National Struggle Front.

The Council stressed on the importance of holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on due time without any political suspension or extension that threatens the Lebanese democratic system.

As for the Syrian crisis, the Council highlighted the necessity of dissociating Lebanon from the repercussions of the conflict, and adhering to the humanitarian initiatives to host the displaced Syrians and aid them.
