Caretaker Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil stressed on Tuesday during the launching of the first cycle of licensing for the exploration for oil and gas that he lacked financial resources when he started the gas and oil exploration project, hoping to make the most of this sector in the future.

In this context, Bassil sought to realize many infrastructural projects and to bridge the public deficit, stressing that there is oil and gas resources across the country.

“The presence of 46 international companies in Lebanon proves that the country possesses oil and gas resources,” Bassil added.

In this regard, Bassil pointed out that he is exerting efforts in a bid to create a favorable climate for investment in Lebanon, noting that “he will stand against anyone who prevents the Ministry from benefiting from the resources”.
