Cardinal Rai meets with Brazilian Vice President, Foreign Minister
    
Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai held a meeting on Wednesday with the Brazilian Vice President Michel Temer at Brazil’s Presidential Palace, according to the state-run National News Agency.       

In this context, Temer, who is of Lebanese descent, welcomed Cardinal Rai, and expressed his concern over the situation in the Middle East as well as its repercussions on Lebanon.    

Cardinal Rai and the Brazilian Vice President also tackled the developments taking place in Syria in light of the long-simmering Syrian crisis, pointing out the impacts on Lebanon’s security and economic sector.     

Earlier, Cardinal Rai met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Antonio Patriota who stressed that his country exerted tireless efforts in a bid to sow the seeds of peace in the Middle East.      

For his part, Patriota praised the role played by Cardinal Rai in maintaining stability, highlighting the need to take all necessary measures in order to stand against violence and terrorism.
