Israeli army says troops encircle Bint Jbeil, launch ground assault

The Israeli army said its forces have completed the encirclement of the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil and launched an assault on it, as part of an expanded ground offensive in Lebanon.

Military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a post on X that paratroopers, commando units, and the Givati Brigade, operating under the 98th Division, are continuing what he described as a "focused ground operation" to reinforce the forward defensive line in southern Lebanon.

According to Adraee, Israeli forces completed the encirclement of Bint Jbeil over the past week before initiating the assault. He added that more than 100 fighters from Hezbollah were killed during close-range and aerial engagements.

He also said troops destroyed dozens of infrastructure sites and uncovered hundreds of weapons in the area.
