President Aoun seeks deeper partnerships to drive Lebanon’s recovery and stability

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed the need to coordinate with Syrian authorities on the refugee file, with the support of international partners.

Speaking in Cyprus, Aoun called for intensified efforts to enable the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees, who are placing significant pressure on infrastructure, services, and host communities.

“In light of Syria’s recovery and growing stability, we see a real opportunity to move forward on this path in a gradual and organized manner,” he said.

In the same context, Aoun noted that Lebanon stands today at a decisive crossroads, emphasizing that “the choices we make together in the coming phase will not only shape Lebanon’s trajectory, but also impact the stability of our region and the future of our peoples.”

He added that Lebanon, like other countries in the region, places great importance on de-escalation and achieving stability and peace, believing that diplomacy, not escalation, is the only path to a sustainable solution.

Aoun affirmed that “with the right support, Lebanon can move beyond crisis management and play a constructive role in regional recovery, economic integration, and long-term stability.”

“We look to our partners not only for support, but for a deeper partnership based on shared interests and mutual responsibility,” he said, adding: “Lebanon is ready and determined to move forward, and we count on your support to achieve that.”
