Israeli army says it killed Radwan Force commander in strike on Beirut's suburbs

The Israeli military said it killed a senior commander from Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force in an airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs on Wednesday.

Israeli military spokesperson Ella Waweya said the strike carried out targeted Ahmad Ghaleb Ballout, whom Israel identified as a commander within the Radwan Force, Hezbollah's elite commando unit.

According to the Israeli army, Ballout held several senior operational roles within the unit over the years, including operations commander. Israel accused him of overseeing the force's combat readiness and directing attacks against Israeli troops and territory.

The military claimed that during the war and in recent months, Ballout led dozens of operations against Israeli forces in South Lebanon, including anti-tank missile attacks and explosive device operations.

Israel also alleged that he played a role in rebuilding the Radwan Force’s capabilities and advancing what it described as Hezbollah’s “Galilee occupation plan,” a long-discussed scenario involving cross-border infiltration into northern Israel.
