Turkish prosecutors arrested in probe of spy agency Syria convoys
Four Turkish prosecutors and a former commander have been arrested following an investigation of an incident early last year in which provincial authorities stopped and searched trucks heading from southern Turkey to Syria on an intelligence mission.

Turkish news wires said a court ordered the arrests Wednesday. The five officials are accused of attempting to overthrow the government. The incident in January 2014 involved a standoff between local authorities and intelligence officials. The local authorities charged that two convoys of trucks were illegally transporting weapons to Syria. Officials in Ankara have argued that Turkish laws give its intelligence service immunity.

Turkish officials have said that the convoy contained humanitarian aid and that the searches were part of a conspiracy by U.S.-based cleric Fetullah Gulen to destabilize the government.
