Saudi Arabia says drug smuggling attempt from Lebanon thwarted
Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that it thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs from Lebanon by sea into the kingdom through Nigeria.

It also noted that the attempt was made by a network linked to Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

This as the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Ministry of Interior's security spokesman, Col. Talal Al-Shalhoub as saying that "one of Hezbollah's drug production and smuggling networks was behind the attempt.”

He added that the network attempted to smuggle 451,807 Captagon amphetamine tablets by sea from Lebanon to Nigeria, hidden inside mechanical equipment.

The spokesman added that cooperation with the Nigerian Interior Ministry was done in order to apprehend the drugs, noting that they were seized before being shipped to another country and sent to the Kingdom.
