Iranian official: We reject talks conducted under pressure or aimed at surrender

A senior Iranian official told Reuters on Tuesday that Iran could take part in talks with the United States in Pakistan if Washington abandons its policy of pressure and threats, adding that Tehran rejects negotiations aimed at “surrender.”

The official said that Pakistan, acting as a mediator, is continuing efforts to persuade the United States to lift a naval blockade and release the Iranian-flagged container ship Toska, which was seized by U.S. forces on Sunday along with its crew.

He accused Washington of “placing new obstacles every day instead of seeking to resolve differences” in order to end the conflict.
