REPORT: Minister of Energy Nazarian announces end of EDL contract workers dossier
Minister of Energy Arthur Nazarian announced on Friday the end of Electricite Du Liban contract workers dossier via a "new initiative that abides by the law."

For his part, Minister of Agriculture Akram Shehayeb said that the reason behind the agreement is to preserve the EDL institution and its employees.

The EDL contract workers expressed hope that the ministry would follow up on implementing the said law and agreement, announcing that they would consequently lift their strike and open the gates of the company.

They also thanked Change and Reform bloc leader Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri and head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt for resolving the crisis.

EDL contract workers have been protesting for months calling on the government to employ them as full-time staff and to pay their salaries.

Their protests have included shutting the gates of EDL headquarters in Beirut and disrupting normal work at the state-run company.
