The parliament passed on Thursday the restoration of nationality law with a recommendation to examine the bill pertaining to granting the Lebanese women the right to pass their citizenship to their spouses and children.
The lawmakers also passed a law that would strengthen the army’s infrastructure.
In addition, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour announced that the parliament passed the food safety law, hoping that it would guarantee the health of the Lebanese people.
Earlier today, a legislative session aimed at tackling several bills was held at the parliament under the chairmanship of House Speaker Nabih Berri.
The session was adjourned until Friday at 05:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Kataeb supporters held a protest outside the parliament, deeming the session as “unconstitutional.”
For his part, Kataeb leader MP Sami Gemayel told the protesters that today’s session forms a coup against the constitution and the Lebanese state, noting that the escalation will continue in order to preserve the Lebanese constitution.
Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since May 2014 when the mandate of Michel Sleiman ended without the election of a new president.
