Bassil after meeting Cavusoglu: We support a political solution in Syria

Minister of Foreign Affairs Gebran Bassil reiterated on Friday that Lebanon supports a political solution in Syria and the right of the Syrian people in deciding its fate.

Bassil’s comments were made during a joint press conference with with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu whereby he added that it is high time for the return of Syrians to their country in a safe and dignified way.

“We share with Turkey common challenges, mainly the Syrian crisis and the refugees influx,” he added.

For his part, Cavusoglu stressed that Lebanon’s stability and growth are very important for Turkey and the region, pointing out that Turkey continues to support Lebanon.

“I discussed with Bassil ways to boost and support the Lebanese economy, especially that we support the Turkish companies in Lebanon,” he added.

As for the Syrian refugees crisis, Cavusoglu stressed that his country will cooperate with Lebanon to put an end for this issue.
