REPORT: Body of late Captain Pierre Bachaalany arrives to Mreijat

An atmosphere of sadness and anger prevailed in the town of Mreijat after the death of the late LAF Captain Pierre Bachaalany in Arsal.                               

His body arrived on Saturday afternoon to his hometown where crowds gathered to say their last goodbyes and pay respect to the brave martyr.

The relatives of the late Captain started accepting condolences since the early morning hours at the St. Georges Church in Mreijat whereas the burial ceremony will be held on Sunday.             

Earlier in the day, security forces reopened the Mreijat, Tal Amara, and Rayak roads after they were blocked by angry citizens who denounced the murder of the Captain and his companion by gunmen in the town of Arsal.

In this context, LAF members besieged the Arsal area and arrested a number of young men for carrying weapons without licenses and attempting to escape.  

This as, the Army Command announced that the Captain’s funeral will be held on Sunday at 3pm at the abovementioned church. The body will be buried in his family’s cemetery. 

Condolences will be received on the 3rd and 4th of February at the church’s hall from10 am till 5 pm.
