REPORT: Mandela showing "great improvement", ex-wife Winnie says

Former South African President Nelson Mandela is showing a "great improvement" in his health compared to a few days ago, his ex-wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, said on Friday.
"I'm not a doctor but I can say that from what he was a few days ago there is great improvement," she told reporters outside Mandela's former home in the Johannesburg township of Soweto.

This as South African people were expressing well-wishes to the country's anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela as the former president's condition was said improving by South African President Jacob Zuma Thursday.

People from Mandela' hometown Qunu, a small rural village in South Africa's Eastern Cape Province, were especially sharing feelings and showing continuous concerns to this anti-apartheid icon.

This is the third time for Mandela to be admitted to hospital this year. On March 27, he was hospitalized after doctors diagnosed him of having pneumonia.

Mandela suffered from tuberculosis when he was incarcerated for 27 years before the apartheid ended in 1994.

Mandela was the first democratically elected president in South Africa after the apartheid ended in 1994, having an honor of the state father in the country.
