Accused of homosexuality, a Yemeni man shot to death

A Yemeni police source said on Tuesday that two militants of Ansar al-Sharia, the local branch of Al-Qaeda in Yemen, shot dead a 20-year-old man in al-Houta, the largest city in the province of Lahj. The man was accused of being a homosexual.

The extremist group has imposed a strict shari'a law during their two-year rule period and set up courts that sentenced numerous people to death accusing them of committing various crimes. Many had also their arms amputated after being accused of theft.
