Patriarch Yaziji urges a peaceful political settlement for Syrian crisis

The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X Yazigi wrapped up on Tuesday his visit to the Vatican where he reiterated his call for peace, urging a peaceful political settlement in Syria in order to end the long simmering conflict.

"Destructive missiles and warships do not lead to peace in Syria," Patriarch Yaziji said.

He also stressed the need to hold dialogue and to exert efforts in a bid to broker a political solution to the 2 1/2 Syrian crisis, stressing that "Syria has always advocated the force of civilization not the civilization of force".
