Iraqi PM offers condolences to Aoun, announces aid to Lebanon

Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun received a phone call on Sunday afternoon from Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al-Sudani, who offered his condolences over the victims of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, particularly those killed last Wednesday.

Al-Sudani said that Iraq condemns the attacks and stands by Lebanon and its people during these difficult circumstances, expressing support for the decisions taken by the Lebanese president and government to assert state sovereignty and maintain security and stability across the country.

The Iraqi prime minister also informed Aoun that Iraq would provide urgent assistance to help ease the suffering of the Lebanese people, including fuel, food supplies, and humanitarian aid.

For his part, Aoun thanked Al-Sudani for his condolences and for the assistance Iraq intends to send, saying it reflects the deep brotherly ties between the Lebanese and Iraqi peoples, and wished Iraq continued stability and security.
