Kuwait to hold parliamentary elections early Feb next year
Kuwait's Cabinet announced Sunday that the 14th legislative term National Assembly elections would be held on February 2, 2012.

In their weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah at Sief Palace, the ministers agreed that the elections are to be monitored by the state-run Kuwait Transparency Society in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Information, official cabinet spokesman Minister of Justice, Minister of Education, and Minister of Higher Education Ahmad Al-Melaifi said in a statement.

The cabinet also touched upon the recent political situation in the country which led to the resignation of the previous cabinet and the dissolving of the parliament, said the minister. He affirmed that the cabinet viewed the previous developments as a healthy sign of continuous converse despite the differences, indicating that any future obstacles should be addressed within the frameworks of the constitution and the law.
