US Department of Defense pledges to "ensure Israel gets what it needs to defend itself"

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on Saturday that the Pentagon is committed to ensuring that Israel receives the necessary support to defend itself and protect civilians from indiscriminate violence and terrorism. 

This declaration comes in the aftermath of an attack launched by the Hamas movement against the Israeli state.

Austin stated in a press release, "Our commitment to Israel's right to self-defense remains unwavering," while condemning the "horrific attacks on civilians."
