Spain to announce recognition of Palestinian State on Wednesday

A Spanish government source told Reuters that Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez intends to announce Wednesday the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, thereby confirming a report published earlier by the news site El Confidencial.

A spokesperson for Sánchez's office declined to comment.

A well-informed source in Ireland mentioned that Spain's recognition of the Palestinian state is likely to coincide with a similar announcement from the Irish government.
