UN urges Syria to “immediately” end violence

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Syria to “immediately” put an end to military operations against civilians, on Saturday.

UN Secretary General spokesperson Martin Nesirky said that UN-chief called for the release of political prisoners and those detained in connection to their participation in the popular protests.

Ban also called on the Syrian authorities to implement “ambitious” reforms that cater to the needs of the Syrian people.
