“Holy Fire” ceremony held at Jerusalem’s Church of the Holy Sepulcher

The annual occurrence of the Holy Fire was held at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher and is described as the holiest event for the Orthodox Christian sects.

Tens of thousands of pilgrims visited the Old City of Jerusalem Saturday to observe the "Holy Fire" ceremony marking the day preceding Orthodox Easter, where the attendees participated in the passing of a flame held by Greek Orthodox and Armenian clergymen when exiting the place of Jesus’s tomb within the church

Burning candles are also set to be flown out to Orthodox communities throughout the world.
