A blast that occurred in a remote area in Lebanon's Western Bekaa region was an Israeli air strike aimed at destroying a downed drone in the area, Hezbollah-run television said.         
 
A Lebanese security source told Reuters that the cause of the blast "is still not 100 percent clear but most probably it was an Israeli air strike to destroy their drone".
 
A blast was heard Sunday morning in the mountainous areas near the town of Saghbine, Western Bekaa, only to be revealed later that it was the result of the downing of a drone.
 
Conflicting reports had emerged about the nature of the blast; some said the explosion was the result of a rocket and that warplanes were spotted a few minutes before the rocket landed in the Kfarqouq and Aiha towns in Rashayya district.           
 
Other local reports said the blast could have resulted from training exercises or the explosion of a weapons cache.        
 
The Lebanese Armed Forces sent a unit to the scene in order to reveal the nature of the blast.
