LBCI reveals details of Achrafieh assassination attempt

The situation returned to normal at the ISF general directorate following a night of heightened security after the discovery of a plot targeting a security official with a car bomb in Achrafieh.    

According to security sources to LBCI, a few days ago, security apparatuses were briefed on an attempt by unknown assailants to target a security official with a car bomb in Achrafieh, adding that the targeted figure is General Wissam Hassan.    

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stressed that security issues are usually followed up on secretly and away from the media, adding that the car bomb was not detected due to leaks through the media.    

Charbel denied that Telecommunications Minister Nicolas Sahnawi withholds any requested telecommunication data.    

Charbel reiterated that it is Lebanon’s security that is in danger, and that the professional or political affiliation of a target should not matter, calling on the majority and opposition to keep their political differences away from the Lebanese scene, averting any possible strife “because both sides are targeted.”
