Fifth day of clashes near Egyptian Interior Ministry sparked by football riot
Clashes between protesters and security forces continued for a fifth day in the Egyptian capital on Monday, not far from the Interior Ministry.

The latest round of violence was sparked by anger at the authorities' inability to prevent a riot after a football match last week which left 74 people dead.

At least 12 people have been killed in clashes following Wednesday's tragedy.

On Monday, protesters were seen pelting rocks at police, who responded by firing back tear gas.

During the scuffles, one demonstrators spoke of his grievances regarding the trial of ousted President Hosni Mubarak, calling the proceedings a farce.

"It's a comic episode," he said, adding the trial should be "a political and revolutionary trial instead of what we are seeing now".

Mubarak is on trial on charges of complicity in the killing of hundreds of protesters during the 18-day uprising that forced him to step down.

On Sunday, security officials said the 83-year-old would be moved to a prison for the first time since his arrest in April.

He was in custody in a hospital at the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh and later at an army medical facility east of Cairo.
