The ski slopes of Kfardebian were the scene of a tragic event on Sunday after a deadly ski accident cut short the life of a young Lebanese woman identified as Melanie Freiha.
According to reports, the 19-year-old civil engineering student was immediately transported to the St. Georges Hospital in Ajaltoun after an accident rendered her severely injured.
The Mayor of Kfardebian Wassim Mhanna told LBCI that public safety teams deployed at the ski slopes took notice of Freiha’s ordeal and immediately rushed to her location, adding that they successfully transported her to an ambulance.
Freiha was transported to the St. Georges Hospital in Ajaltoun within 30 minutes of her accident, Mhanna said, adding that she later suffered from a severe hemorrhage and died while undergoing a surgery.
Her funeral will be held on the 3rd of February at 3pm at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Achrafieh.
