Mikati confirms from France Lebanon’s self-distancing policy towards Syria
PM Najib Mikati reiterated on Thursday Lebanon’s self-distancing policy towards the events in Syria, confirming that this policy helps preserve the country’s internal stability.

Mikati held a meeting on Thursday with French businessmen in Paris in the presence of Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh,

Mikati invited the French businessmen to visit Lebanon and check on the country’s investment sectors, confirming that Lebanon will soon be an oil-producing country.

According to information made available to LBCI, Mikati’s meeting with French businessmen touched on the relationship with Syria as well as the imposed sanctions, particularly those inflicted on the country’s banking sector.

The prime minister is expected to meet later in the day with French President Nicolas Sarkozy as well as the president of the French Senate. He will also meet in the evening with French PM Francois Fillon and Foreign Minister Alain Juppe who will hold a dinner in his honor.
