Lebanese oil sector scheduled to strike April 2-4

The Association of Oil Importing Companies in Lebanon, the Union of Gas Stations Owners and the Tanks Owner Association announced on Monday that the oil sector will go on strike April 2-4.  

The Head of oil importing companies Maroun Chammas said that the oil sector is asking for a 820 LBP raise divided as follows: 500 LBP for gas stations, 120 LBP for transportation and 200 LBP for distribution companies. Chammas stressed that oil importing companies are committed to show solidarity with owners of gas stations and oil tanks.

“We will go on strike April 2-4 and our meetings will remain open”, Chammas said.

The Head of the Gas Station Owners Union in Lebanon Sami Brax said that based on the promises made during the first strike and due to the fact that no solution was reached, the strike will be held.

Brax underscored the importance of answering their demands. The Head of oil tanks owners association in Lebanon Ibrahim Saraini voiced hope that the association will not be dragged into the narrow political channels.
