PM Salam: Lebanon refuses resettlement of Syrians

Prime Minister Tammam Salam stressed Wednesday that Lebanon, with all its groups, refuses to resettle the Syrian nationals, stressing the need that the refugees return to their country.

In a speech read by Environment Minister Mohammad al-Mashnouq during the inauguration of the of “The Arab Banking Integration Conference in Beirut”, Salam called on all the parties “to stop dealing with the national priorities as if they are in a never-ending electoral campaign,” urging the politicians to put an end their verbal outbidding that only contribute to the aggravation of the political crisis.

“Lebanon’s national interest lies in adopting a positive approach in dealing with international organizations, without compromising national welfare,” he added.

Commenting on the presidential vacuum, Salam said that the time has come to restore normality to the political life, noting that weakness in the state’s structure has reached an alarming status.
