Minister Azzi meets with MP Pakradounian, discusses Bourj Hammoud landfill

Head of the Tashnag party MP Hagop Pakradounian met Wednesday with Labor Minister Sejaan Azzi and briefed him on the situation of the Bourj Hammoud landfill, which has been included in an apparent solution reached by the government to the months-long waste crisis, along with the “Costa Brava” where new landfills are to be built.

 

Minister Azzi also met with a delegation of employees and workers of Electricité Du Liban, who had staged a two-day strike last week. Azzi expressed his understanding of their demands, saying however, that “although the right to hold a strike is a legitimate right within democratic regimes, there are some critical sectors that cannot bear the burden of a series of strikes amid difficult situations.”
