REPORT: Tragedy in Western Bekaa: Four children die of suffocation inside vehicle

Four children died Wednesday of suffocation after being trapped inside a vehicle in the town of al-Qadiriyeh – al-Khyara in Western Bekaa, the Red Cross reported.

 

According to Red Cross Secretary General George Kettaneh’s statement to the state-run National News Agency, the Red Cross received a phone call from the town of al-Qadiriyeh – al-Khyara reporting that four Syrian children are suffering from suffocation.

 

Two Red Cross ambulances rushed from Jeb Jennin center to the scene only to find that the 4 children were trapped inside the trunk of a vehicle, causing the death of three children while the fourth was in a critical condition and transported to a nearby hospital.

 

The children were identified as Yasmin al-Askar (4 years old), Shahad al-Hassan (3 years old), Bayan al-Hassan (4 years old) and Lynn Qassem (4 years old).
