Kataeb party leader Sami Gemayel slammed on Thursday Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil’s legal complaint against around 400 people for defaming him.

"Some are asking how I am certain if my name is mentioned among those 400 people," Gemayel said during a press conference at the Kataeb headquarters in Saifi.

"If I am included then I'd like to lift my parliamentary immunity," Gemayel added.

"Speaker Nabih Berri - isn't he an ally in your cabinet? He said that the plan was meant to put money in pockets," Gemayel noted. "Isn't that an accusation of corruption? Why don't you submit a legal complaint against him?"

Minister Abi Khalil asked on Tuesday Minister of Justice Salim Jreissati to initiate legal pursuit against whoever is involved in the campaign leveled against him and his political party regarding the power generating ships.
