Kahwaji: North events confirm bets laid on army’s role in nipping strife

Army Commander Jean Kahwaji confirmed on Wednesday that the events in the north have confirmed the bets laid on the army’s role in nipping strife and imposing stability, adding that defense and security complement each other in the maintenance of national sovereignty and the country’s higher interest.

In his message on the occasion of the 12th anniversary of the Resistance and Liberation Day, Kahwaji said that no one is allowed to mess with the citizens’ safety, life and dignity and to take advantage of the atmosphere of democracy and public freedoms that Lebanon enjoys as well as the regional crisis to destroy the pillars of the state, deal a blow to the country’s unity and manipulate the fate of the next generations.
