Interior and Municipalities Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq said that “Lebanon’s foreign policy is astray,” saying that continuing in the current political direction will place the governmental solidarity in harm’s way.
Al-Mashnouq said that he distinguishes between “the president whom he respects and the policy adopted by the Foreign Ministry, which does not comply with the ministerial statement and the governmental rules.”
The minister pointed out that “the disassociation policy that was one of the main items of the presidential settlement, has received many blows lately, in terms of the ministers’ visit to Syria and taking part in Damascus International Exhibit, or the meeting held between Minister Gebran Bassil and Syrian counterpart Walid al-Mouallem,” noting that said meeting was not coordinated with the Prime Minister.
