REPORT: Rai says schools cannot carry burdens of salary scale

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai presided on Sunday over the Easter Mass in Bkerke in presence of President Michel Aoun and First Lady Nadia Aoun, and several political, security and diplomatic figures.

In his holy sermon, Rai tackled the issue of the educational sector, saying that it is Lebanon's “natural wealth.”

"This wealth is threatened to fall if the state does not preserve it,” he added.

Rai also noted that schools cannot in any way “carry the burden of the salary scale without raising tuition fees."

He called on the state and the union of the educational institutions to find a solution for the issue to avoid the closure of several schools.
